Meet Br. Michael
The Midwest District interviewed Br. Michael Kadow, a senior Brother who will be moving to a new ministry in Minneapolis, MN.
What inspired you to be a Brother?
The example of the Brothers at Roncalli High School in Manitowoc, WI from 1972—1976 and my family’s values of faith, service and compassion are what inspired me to become a Brother.
Tell us about a Brother mentor in your life/senior Brother you lived with in Community.
Brother Michael Callahan was a senior Brother who inspired me. He was always willing to learn new ideas and try different experiences. He was always looking to serve.
Share a story when a senior Brother inspired you and how you carry that inspiration today.
Br. Denis Murphy inspired me by his concern and advocacy for the poor. He began many projects by networking with local organizations to bring about positive change.
If you had one wish for the next generation to experience, what would it be?
The common good. Seeing everyone as a potential friend or ally as opposed to a stranger intending harm. Look to the beauty and wisdom of creation as a model.
If you had one gift to give students today, what would it be?
The encouragement to live out Catholic Social Teaching.
